Cortijo La Suerte - Pitres, Spain - Property ref 16

Cortijo La Suerte is situated on the slopes of the Sierra Nevada fifteen minutes walk from the village Pitres and ten minutes walk from the village of Mecina.
A Cortijo is originally a farmhouse, so don't expect a luxurious mansion. The house was built ten years ago and recently an extra floor was added.
Because of the hilly area and the swimming pool, the house seems less appropriate for children under six years old.
The upper floor has one large double bedroom with a bathroom with Jacuzzi and washstand. There is floor heating as well as central heating for cold times. The two outer doors open on to two large terraces of which one has an open fire for barbecue. Both terraces have stunning views over the mountains. Next to the bedroom is the landing with an extra bed. The landing and the sleeping room have sufficient wardrobes.
The middle floor has a living room with an open fire, with a dining area for eight people, central heating and an open kitchen with a fridge, a kitchen cooker and hot and cold water.
Between the living area and the backdoor at the side is a bathroom with shower, wash stand and toilet. During showering one can admire the view over the mountains and Mecina. At the side near the front door and the covered terrace is a small bedroom for a lovely stay for one person. Also from this terrace one has beautiful views over the valley.
Next to the swimming pool is a small double bedroom with a bathroom with shower and wash stand. In fact this is a small apartment with a nice hidden terrace between the fruit trees and looking out over the countryside.
The roof of the apartment is the terrace for the swimming pool. The swimming pool has a depth between 1.60 and 2.40 meters, is L-shaped and measures 7.20 by 2.90 metres plus 4.00 by 1.80 metres.

Pitres is situated between Pampaneira and Trevelez. It is as pretty as those villages but less touristy. The valley below it, with five hamlets - Mecina, Mecinilla, Fondales, Ferreirola and Atalbeitar, all grouped with Pitres in the municipality called la Taha – is fascinating to explore at this altitude of 1295 meters, with ancient paths though beautiful woodlands and the tinkling sound of running water. Pitres has about 800 inhabitants.
From several places there are views over the sea, as well as generally stunning views. In Pitres there is a supermarket, a pharmacy, two pubs with terraces in the central market place.

The environment is a wonderful hiking area and it is possible to wander for hours in beautiful nature with only the sounds of nature. The village is situated in a ‘park natural’, that is bordered on the ‘National Park the Sierra Nevada’. There are old paths leading to other villages or old places like Roman churches. The Mediterranean mountains (with many almond- and olive trees) are full of variation.
The mountain rivers and the sea offer to bath and swim on many places. The Costa del Sol gives of course, opportunities like sailing and canoeing. This Costa is a one hour drive. In the mountains there are many opportunities to ride on horseback. And of course there is the swimming pool of the house itself.

Excursions

In the National Parks you can make hikes from cabin to cabin. Special guides for this are available. It is a one and a half hour drive to the ski resort of the Sierra Nevada, which can be skied until April.

Nearby cities

Granada (1 hour drive), Nerja (1,5 hour), Malaga (2,5 hour), Almeria (2,5 hour) and Motril (1 hour). Most roads are pretty recent and in a good shape.
