Originally 200 year old farmhouse, Las Alegrias is now modern , comfortable and spacious, retaining many Spanish features. We are in a secluded and peaceful rural area bordering olive groves and a back route up to Orgiva, about 15 minutes walk and 5 minutes drive. This bustling market town is on the edge of the large national park called La Alpujarra, on the southern slopes of the Sierra Nevada.

The panoramic views are glorious. About 500 metres above sea level, the air quality is superb and clear which makes relaxing or walking a joy. The sun shines 325 days of the year. The area surrounding Orgiva is a micro-climate providing fabulous floral colours and haven for birds and wildlife. We have a family of hoopoes nesting in the olive trees every year.

This special place was 5 years ago and now after thoughtful renovation offer a very high standard of accommodation. All the rooms are spacious, even the smallest bedroom is airy and cool in summer and warm in winter. Every room overlooks a terrace, the garden and the mountains beyond. There are flyscreens on all the windows and each room has a fan. If you want to rent during cooler months, there is a electric heating in every room and a large wood-burner in the living room with a good stockpile of wood in the garden. In addition to the dvd / tv satellite there is a selection of games, CDs, DVD, and books. Bring your own favourites to enjoy.
In addition to a large range of crockery for inside dining there are melamine/plastic plates, glasses and beer flagons for outside dining to avoid breakages at the poolside. We have also added a juicer, blender, Magimix, 3 hairdryers (UK plugs) and a magnifying mirror in each bedroom.

The house manager Louise, is on hand if you need help. She organises the linen and bath-towel changeover, and gives the house a clean- that is if your stay more than one week. She also organises a welcome Pack in the fridge, including milk, eggs water, bread, butter, beer and wine, for your arrival. The pool is cleaned weekly and its clarity is helped when you take a poolside shower before swimming.
